Breeding Angels - I start out with the eggs in fresh Water and H2 O2. Then twenty four hrs later I do a water change using Fresh water and the H202 again. The next day I use aged water with Dechlor. How long do you use the aged water? Then what do I do use Fresh water, De Chlor and cycle the water from another filter or do I just do a 75 % water change and add Fresh water and Dechlor from then on. Thanks for the help I have three angel tanks going at different stages. Eggs in one, 250 Fry at 5 days old and 200 just getting out of the wiggling stage.

it's really up to you how long you use 'aged' water.

I generally use aged water in fry tanks until they are eating well and showing growth.
how long is your water aged?
generally aged water is water that has aged long enough to be stable.. my aged water sits for up to a week depending on how much I use.. there is a small circulation pump in them to keep the water moving as well as a heater to bring the water to tank temp.

for me once the fry look like tiny angels I start mixing tap with aged doing partial changes gradually increasing to just tap.. the only real diff for me is I add the conditioners to the water before changing and mix the aged with tap. ;)

Thanks for your help. My aged water is two days old. I store the water in gallon jugs and a bucket. To heat it I fill the sink with hot water and put the jugs in the water I add DeChlor at that point. How important is a circulation pump. I don't have the room to store water for a week. Right now I have 9 tanks filled with Rainbow and angel fish, some are just eggs and some are one to two weeks old. I have just started being successful at breeding the Angel fish. I was using jars to put the slate in to, but that didn't seem to work. Now I am doing fine and have the fish in 2.5-5.0 gallon tanks. Rainbows are so much easier than Angel fish.

I use to have a 55 g drum for aged water..it was used for marine tank and hatch grow out.. I don't breed angels much any longer it was too time consuming and I work a job with unpredictable hours..I am currently giving Rams a go
I now use food grade 7 gal buckets for aged water ..circulation is important for long term storage as it helps to regulate the heat and prevents possible 'stale' water.
if your system is workin I wouldn't modify it much.
you can use methylene blue to deter bacteria as long as you keep a close eye on dosage keep in mind it will also wipe out your bio filter if you use one I did so many water changes and my water was on the acidic side(pH6-) so I didn't worry about ammonia spikes.
