angel fish eggs

I'd try letting the parents do some spawns, but, if they can't raise the spawns, I would be against artificial rearing by principle (as that may pass on the ol' angelfish that can't be parents gene)...I think that they'll eventually be able to raise the spawns, though!

It happens with Cichlids sometimes...they'll eat the first batch or two. Angels are notorious for this behaviour b/c some of the bad parents (a lot, actually) somehow made it through as breeders.

Hey stik- after a year of growing out DD blacks, I got a pair which finally began to spawn. The first try she speweggs all over, got some on the leaf and then he ate them all- gone in a few hours. the 2nd spawn lasted about 12 hours before they were eaten. the third spawn lasted about 36 hours before they became lunch.
I pulled the 4th spawn and I expect the wigglers to be free swimming in the next day or two. I also expect another spawn on monday as they have been regular as a calender going every 10 days.

I know several professional angel breeders and so got great advice and information along the way. From what I understand some angels are good parents, both with eggs, wigglers and fry, while others are not. If you want fry for sure, I would give them 2 or 3 tries and then pull the eggs.

As for what eggs should look like. See pic below. The viable eggs will be kinda of golden and will soon have dark dot inside. The non viable ones will turn solid white.
