I would like to introduce some Angel Fish to my tank. 210 gallon I have Cardinal tetras, Silver dollars,Tiger Barbs, Tri color shark, Dalmations and a few other species. The tank is well planted with artifical plants and lots of structure. I was wondering if there are any fish that would pose a problem to new Angels in the tank and am I better to get larger Angels or start with very small ones.

angels of any size will chase/ambush your cardinals and any other smaller tetras/fry. oce they get bigger and can catch them, the cardinals will almost certainly become lunch. in some cases when the angels are introduced to the tank very young, they might not do it, but eating those smaller fish is their natural behavior, and will most likely come out sooner or later. when i got my nagels they were about quarter sized, and they hunted down every feeder guppy in the tank with them.
Now that you have said that. I believe that my tetra population has been getting smaller. Do you think the silver dollars would be eating them as they are getting quite large or are there mouths too small?"
i think silver dollars are more veggie-eaters, but it's possible that they have discovered that they like the taste of the cardinals. more likely, however, i would look at either the barbs or the shark as your culprits.
Thanks for your help. It would be nice to add some larger fish to the tank but it seems hard to get everyone to get along. It is a large tank and could use a few more fish.
The tiger barbs (4) seem to chase each other and none of the other fish but who knows what happens when the lights go out.
I have 6 cory cats and 6 small algie eaters. I didn't mention them earlier as they didn't seem to pose a threat to new fish.
