I have had a few angels in my community tank for the past couple of months. One has become "fat" over the past 2 days maybe. The fish has become lethargic. Is the fish going to lay eggs? I hope. Or is it possibly some disease that I should remove her/him and treat? Thanks to all those who can give their opinions. I have attached 2 pictures of the fish.

It looks like the bloating might be more likely be maybe a disease or indigestion (I could be wrong though). What has it eaten over the past few days?

Have you seen the "fat" angel and maybe another angel cleaning any flat surfaces really good ie: broad leaves, flat rocks, side of the aquariium etc? Also if she is pregnant, you will notice a small pink protrusion under her belly, a little past her pelvic fins...it may not be noticable just yet if she is pregnant since its only been 2 days.
However it could also be constipation or even internal parasites.
Has the angel been eating normally or not at all?
What are your water readings?
As a side note, in my honest opinion it doesn't look like she's pregnant, especially since you mentioned that she's been very lethargic.

Hmmm. Makes we wonder Radek. I typically feed the fish 1 maybe 2 times a day. Flake food. However, their tankmates include a group of Swordtails. Is it possible I had some swordtail fry, and this angel ate them all? I have seen gravid spots in the past, had 2 fry survive a spawning before, but that was before the angels. I do have 2 plastic fry plant areas (4"x4" groups) for fry. One of the female swords did appear to be getting a gravid spot this past weekend. Hard to remember which one at times, and how far along they are. Is this a possibility? If so, will the angel be ok?

More good info/questions.
She/he ate up til yesterday.
She/he was not lethargic yesterday. Looked fine, swimming around and "aggressively" eating the flake food at the surface.
He/she has only be lethargic since I noticed the fatness today.
I will have to test the water and post that info.

I hope your angel is okay. My last angel became suddenly bloated, I thought he'd eaten too many fry, then he became lethargic, and within a day or two it was clear he was a lost cause. I believe he had a blockage, but it may have been another type of illness - every other fish in the tank became lethargic and stopped eating (no bloating though), but they all recovered. The only fish I lost was the angel (I euthanized him when I realized that he wasn't going to recover.)
It might help to isolate your angel if other fish are bothering him. If you suspect an intestinal blockage, you could try adding some epsom salts to the water and if he's still eating, feeding a thawed frozen pea (without the shell) should help.

It could be that he/she just got greedy and ate a little too much :)
If it's constipation, try feeding shelled peas if the angel will eat. It always worked for me, but right now we just have to try and figure out exactly what is wrong with your angel.
If he/she did just over eat on some babies then the angel should be back to normal in a day or two

My Angels look like that after feeding bloodworm. I have lost one due to the stomach going the other way! he was way to thin and got really week so had to unthanise

I thought at first it was dropsy but no protruding scales. I mix a little Tetra Veg flake in with their normal flake and that has the desired effect!

I also started to feed less as thought it could be a build up and hence constipation. One of my marbles was very quiet for a day and last night he was back to normal with and in his wake a fair ammount of poop!

keep a close eye on him/her to make sure there is nothing untoward happening and they should be ok in a day or so.

Try some veg flakes or as candycat suggested some shelled peas

Thanks for all the ideas. However, the angel didn't make it through the night. Strange, all others are doing well. To have had something come down over 1 day and kill it.

Does anyone think it could have been overeating w/indigestion of some sort?
Or
Could it be a disease I should be concerned about for my other fish?

Thanks.
