My angels have a terrible habit of eating my plants. I had some very nice bushy narrow-leaf hygros that they ate little by little until they left just the stem.... My angels and my zebra loaches love greens like CRAZY! I put in two leaves of romaine lettuce for my albino bns couple times a week and the angels and loaches finish them before the plecos have a chance... The only plants remaining are amazon swords. I want more plants to add to my 55gal but I don't want to invest a lot of money on plants that they can easily devour!

I have a medium-tech setup (130watt compact fluorescent) for a 55gal with eco-complete and one of those yeast-based c02 diffusers. Someone I know suggested the red cabombas, but I feel like my angels would devour the leaves in seconds... Please help? I would LOVE some suggestions. I'm at my wit's end!

are they touching the swords. try going with a bunch or them. space them out and let them grow in though. umm you could use java fern although its not the most pleasing to the eye along with mabey some appons. haha im not sure if i spelled that right.

idk just a sudgustion... haha i had 2 silver dollars that tore up about 50- 60 dollars in plants in 1 weeks

Are you sure it is an angel?? Or is it a Silver dollar??

I keep angels and the only plant that I know they will eat is duckweed. Never had any problems with any other plants I have kept with them. You could also try any type of crypt or anubias, they are pretty hardy plants and don't require alot to grow.

I've seen them picking on the hygros when I first got them. Maybe they just pulled out the leaves from their picking...? I've seen little bite marks on the leaves. They've also been picking on the swords when I first got them (I saw missing chunks on the leaves) but has pretty much left them alone now.

I've also got zebra loaches, LF and SF albino bns, and one lone ghost cat who is virtually indestructible!

I figured the angels were the ones destroying or eating the plants because I always see them picking on them and they seem to have a very healthy appetite for romaine lettuce. I was really surprised when I saw the way they attacked the lettuce when I first tried it for my plecos. You can actually see that their poop is green when I do my romaine feeding. My plecos pretty much stick to the glass or the driftwood... Poor guys.

And I'm definitely sure that my angels are angels and not silver dollars. I paid a pretty penny for my koi angels.:D
