I would like to get one angelfish as my tank could use a few more fishies now that i've got rid of a few of them. I would like to put it in the 50g. but my 50g. is not the standard size. Its an old tank (about 20-25 years old) so i'm thinkin there are not a lot of 50g's this size anymore. Its 36L x 17H x 18W. In the tank right now there is 1 female Pearl Gourami, 3 swordtails (1m/2f), 6 Rummy Nose Tetras, 1 Bolivian ram, and like 4 panda cories. Oh, and a pair of Kribs. Would this tank size be okay for an Angel or not? I know higher tanks are better then longer ones for Angelfish. Just wondering what everyones opinions are on this, I won't be getting anything for a few weeks yet and if/when I do, the angels we get in at the store I work in are about the body size of a quarter, so they're just little. Also, are they fast growers? Thanks!

What strain is your angelfish? Veiltails will need deeper tanks. Your tank should support a pair of angelfish although one is fine by itself. Growth rate depends on how much foods you provide and how often and how much water you replace although I find them to be fast growers. In my experience anyway.:)

I think it's ok too although the angel may give the gourami a hard time when it gets big.
BTW I believe your tank is a "breeder" style not necessarily old, they're still sold.

Scalare and Leopoldi angels will work in this tank.the only one I would be concerned with is Altum...

Ummm....well I can look for Angels that are not Veiltail or Altum haha...the ones we get in at the store are Koi, Chocolates, Black and Gold angels and they're usually listed as Veiltail or not. I was originally leaning more towards the Koi strain as I like how they have different blotches of black or gold all over their bodies. Would they do okay? I do about 35% waterchanges along with a gravel vac once every sunday but sometimes I will do 2 in a week. Would the Gourami hassle the little angel now especially since if I do get it, it will be just a little guy (body size of a quarter), so thats considerably smaller then my Gourami...shes not usually to mean to newcomers though but she is the queen at feeding time thats for sure.

Koi would be fine and I would do 2 PWC of 20% a week all your fish will benefit with this WC routine
