Angelfish and tetra suggestions?

My angelfish are the size of probably the average palm, it seems like no fish I put in there with them make it out alive
Got a school of 6 neon tetras and the stores last 4 cardinals, 4 days later had 7 so I moved them into my 30g
Got 6 rainbowthreadfins, 2 days later had 4, moved them in with cardinals
Got 10 rummynose tetras, which were bigger than the cardinals, about 5 hours later had 6, moved them into my 30g
Got 6 cherrybarbs, a day later had 2, moved them into my 30g
Any suggestions? Color wise my tank looks a bit plain, which is why I was going towards pretty fish, so fish like black skirt tetras don't really grab my attention
My rasbora have been fine with my angels
It's a 50g pentagon tank
2 angelfish
6 rasbora
7 albino corries
1 rubberlip pleco and a vampire shrimp

Why not just expand the rasbora population? Failing that, look at some of the larger fish, like emperor tetras? Buy ones that are as large as possible, since anything that will fit in the angels mouth is going to end up there.
 
The bottom line is Angels are cichlids. If it fits, it's lunch.

But I have to ask a couple of questions here:

Have you actually caught the Angels "in the act"?
Smaller specimens of fish like neons and threadfins can be delicate at best. How are the rest of what didn't cut it with the angels doing?

Angels can be singular in behavior as well. Meaning an individual can just have a mean streak in him. But I have to say, I'm pretty surprised about the cherry barbs unless they were neon-sized.

I have a bunch of angels in 40B that are sub-adults. Big, but not huge and just about pairing-off age. All of a sudden one day one bugger decided the whole tank was his and all the rest were simply cowering along the walls of the tank. So he was quickly removed and sent off to live with the big guys. I also have a 180G with my biggest and oldest retirees. Aside from a display tank, I also use it as a penitentiary for delinquents like him. They straighten up real fast in there.

I've usually got a place to put misfits and aggressive angels at any given point. In your case, you may want to consider one tank a true display that's going to have the color and diversity you're looking for and the other simply a home for the angels and something else that can hold its' own if these guys are in fact chowing down on small fish.
 
I will second Bushkills take.
I have a large wild angel in a 29 with a BN..it's the only fish he hasn't killed.
I also have a cull in a 20(angel) he's also not fond of any other fish and is very territorial.
 
Your angel may be eating little fish, or your angel may very much dislike newcomers. If you angel hates newcomers, any fish, no matter the size will be toast. You could try rosy barbs, the long finned variety is especially beautiful, IMO. But, again, if your angelfish doesn't like newcomers, then even though they are too large to be eaten they still won't stand a chance. I too am surprised about the cherry barbs, unless they weren't fully gown. I have a school of them in with my angel (I got the barbs first, then the angel), because when fully grown they are likely too big to be eaten. My angel is still little (though she's grown a lot since I first got her), and my barbs are fully grown.

Always try and raise angels with other tank fish...once they are palm sized and in a tank less than 4' long they will go after just about anything.
 
I have Black Neon Tetras with my angel. The Black neons get about 2" and my angel hasn't touched them. My angelfish is a bit bigger then my palm, minus her fins. But I do have issues with adding new fish, but she leaves them alone after awhile. Guess it depends on the fish.
 
Well seeing how angelfish are cichlids i could see why adding new tankmates would be an issue and the "if it fits in the mouth, its lunch" dilemma. It probably wouldve been best to add the angelfish last if you could have. Instances like these are a disappointing moment in the hobby :/ everything wont always go as planned

upgrade your 30g to a 100g and keep trying!

Yeah that's one of my plans, and I've been looking for emperor and rainbow tetras for some time now but haven't had any luck
