one of my angelfish's eyes has a cloudy white bump on the rim and it seems like part of the black part of his eye is cloudy inside it too. what in the world is this now? it seems like this poor guy gets a new wierd and obscure disease every day!
also, i had 2 snails that both just up and died after a 40% water change yesterday. what? the water temp only fluctuated 1 degree and it is from the same source as the water originally in the tank. i am so confused.

sounds like cloudy eye. How frequent do you perform water changes on the tank? How big is the tank? How long ago did you get your angel? How long has your tank been set up? Cloudy eye is usually brought on by unhealthy water quality, and when water changes are performed, they are done at a maximum to offset the infrequency. The only way to cure it is to continue with the water changes and get the water to pristine conditions. If the fish is new and your tank goes through a regular weekly routine, chances are the LFS where you got him from wasn't keeping the fish in the best conditions and now being in the best environment, his body is reacting negatively. I don't know of any cure off the shelf for this, but weekly water maintenance seems to be the way to go. If you've had this guy a while, I would suggest more frequent water changes at less volume. Say 10% every 4 days or so.

i do biweekly water changes of probably about 30-40% and have had the angelfish for over a year. i put some malachite green in the tank and in his food in case it was some kind of external parasite on his eye, but it has been 3 days and it doesn't seem to be better, though it doesnt seem worse either. however now the angelfish won't eat. i am not completely concerned yet because last year he went without eating for 2 months and then got better, but i will be looking for some kind of medicine for him this weekend. i read somewhere where snails can give angelfish some kind of white worm in their eye, and since i have snails i was wondering if this might be it and what i can do. does anyone have experience with this? any help much appreciated. i have gone through so many diseases in my tank since i set it up last year, it is very frusterating.
