Angelfish not acting as usual.

It was suggested I move this post to Cichlids so here it is.
Every morning my gold veil angelfish is the first one to greet me. This morning I didn't see the female and finally found her in a back bottom corner. She just isn't acting normal....swimming very little. Isn't eating. Acting kind of listless. I don't see any visible physical changes. The male is acting normal. I have the 2 angel fish, 3 swordtails, 2 platies, 1 molly, 8 fry, 4 neon tetra and 2 pleco. Everyone else seems fine. The tank parameters are:
46g bf, ph 8, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, temp. 76. I have had the fish for a few months and these levels don't change much. I do weekly water changes using a gravel vac. I treat the water with API Stresscoat. Any ideas?

personally I find temp at 76 a bit on the cool side.
I keep my angels at 78-82 depending on which angels . Wilds are kept at warmer temps)

not eating and listless(no activity) can be early signs of stress related problems.

Angels tend to be prone to capillaria and camallanus both parasitic issues.(internal)
how long has the angel not been eating? did you try thawed frozen bloodworms?

This is the first morning she hasn't eaten. I have been feeding flake food but will pick up some brine shrimp and blood worms today and see if it will whet her appetite. How would I know if it is parasitic issues?

Another question: How can I tell if I have a male/female pair? I was told you can't really tell until they lay eggs.

I keep my angels (1 left out of 3) at 79 degrees. The 3 were very little when I got them; they grew up - the 2 white ones just started acting weird, turned colors and soon after that was it (one lived about a year and the other a year and a half). The marble I have is still going strong. But, I guess if you think about it my wife used to have 3 cats also!

How long have you had this one?

I believe they can lay eggs if they are not a pair; or, at least I know it's possible to lay eggs and not fertilize them (mine did that several times).

if the angels do not eat for several days I would suspect internal issues..bacterial infections seem to spread quickly internal parasites not so.
healthy angels can go weeks with no food .


at issue .. angels seem to be prone to those two parasites.

it is very common lately to see this. many have been exposed for some time and are suspected of having some resistance to these but stress may allow the parasite to gain the upper hand.
in any case.
i would not jump to conclusions regarding parasites.. not yet.

i would highly suggest frozen bloodworms(thawed)
if after a few days I would suspect another issue.

I alway(with few exceptions) QT my fish(new arrivals) and as SOP treat for internal parasites.

BTW, the only reliable method to determine sex of angels is at spawn. and observation of the breeding tube(ovipositor)

Thank you everyone for your help. I will feed her the bloodworms and watch her closely. At the moment, she is still in the same place she was in when I took her pic. The other one is right next to her. I hope it is nothing serious. I have grown quite fond of them.
