Just to correct information above, most gouramis stay 5" or smaller. The only larger gouramis are the true giant gourami, the snakeskin gourami (really peaceful), and the kissing gourami. All others would work fine in your tank. I agree with the comment above that a pearl gourami and an angelfish should be fine in a 37 gallon tank.

And just to correct your comment I was just telling them that if they get a gourami to make sure what species it is so they don't end up with a giant gourami....I'm pretty sure I made that clear, lfs sometimes have a habit of mislabeling or giving ppl wrong information.
Giant gouramis look nothing like pearl gouramis. At all.
id persanlly do both. but get one first to let it get used to the tank, then get the other a week later. or both at the same time lol
