Ok this question is for anyone with expierence with Angels.

I can't keep them alive ! My water parameters are perfect, all my other fish are fine, but the Angelfish keep croaking withen a week of when i bring them home. They won't eat, i attribute that to stress at being in a new tank, and within a few days they are laying on thier side dying. The size I'm getting them at is a little bigger than a quarter.

What the hell is going on ?? Are angels supposed to be this hard to keep?:mad2:

They are a hard fish to keep, especially when they are juveniles. They could just be coming from poor conditions where they are bred or at your LFS. It took me four juveniles about quarter size until I finally had one survive who is now thriving and pushing 2-3 inches in body length.

I've had the same exact problem and had actually given up.. My water was testing perfect my other fish were fine.... yet i've had no luck with them.. Ya i've been told the same that if their juvenilles they are harder to survive... I want to try again....... let me know if you figure out the trick im trying to figure it out myself

is your tank planted (fake or real)?

it could also be the rainbows. they are hyperactive and fish that are always zipping and zooming around the tank can stress angels out.

where you get them is also a variable in this equation. some fish stores have better quality stock. try looking around at different LFS

Yikes I didnt' know they were hard to keep alive.. :(
I got two last week very small ones.

Is it better to have fake or real plants for angels?

they always look really healthy I usually got them at petsmart.. they never lasted over a week in my tank and if i did a water change they were dead the next day... and that was before i had my tinfoils so i just had the silver dollars and gouramis in my tank any advice for me Jon

Wow. I've never found angels to be difficult fish. I never acclimate. The last time I bought a couple, I literally hand-caught them in the bag and and dropped them into the tank. They were quarter-size then; now they're mongo adults. I will say this: If your tank is newly set-up, wait a couple months for it to mature before adding angels. And try to keep your nitrates down, expecially during the first few weeks they're in the tank.

i never had a problem with angels either..i bought a quarter sized angel and put it into a 2.5g tank and moved it to a 10g 3 weeks later. it was living in the 10g for another couple of weeks. then after finding this site, i returned the angel to the LFS

i feel like im gunna be flamed -.-

Mine are really cute they rush up to the glass when they see me and follow me.
I had trouble feeding them the first few days as I put some flake on top of the water then realised they are used to having 3 tons poured in at the LFS so I put a little in under the water so it would sink and they went for that, they had blood worms yesterday those were a hit...

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear these stories my guys are all ready a big part of the family...
