Angelfish?

ok cool

yea i meant different colors(when i said species like i meant names like Koi Angelfish and Zebra Angelfish i feel dumb, lol)

anyways

how can you tell if a cory is male or female?

female cories are fatties. They are wider than the males. Its kinda hard to tell, most people get a large group of cories and hope they have a mix of males and females.

I inherited two grown angelfish and they lived happily together for six months, then they started fighting non-stop and I had to separate them. (turned out they were both females-both laid eggs) They got pretty mean towards each other and would fight through the tank divider I set up, so they can get aggressive. However neither of them have ever bothered either of my corys. I also have a cory that looks ready to pop, but that is just how she is- she has never laid eggs.

oh i thought that she would have if they look ready to pop cause i cant tell if there is a gravid spot because all my cories run away when i come into my bedroom

any solutions to why that is?
or are they nocturnal?
is their lateral line really sensetive?

My adult corys don't run away when I'm around but they don't move at all, just sit around all day, and then when I turn the tank lights off they both start searching through the gravel all around the tank, (regardless of whether I'm sitting right there or not). My baby corys in my other tank are constantly swimming all over the tank day and night, up to the top and all around the bottom. They never hide and are always moving- very busy.

hmmm thats really odd

cause mine ALWAYS hide and never want to come out of hiding

think they are breeding in there? or taking care of some eggs that were laid?

I don't think that they are breeding, because I think they swim around for that, and I don;t believe they really take care of the eggs, either. I don't know much about it though as mine have never bred. If they are new, they are probably just shy/getting used to new surroundings. For better info than I can give you, I'd ask in the bottom feeders forum and check out www.planetcatfish.com

well i knew they were egg layers i just wanted to know why they keep hiding in there because i HAVE had them for over 2 1/2 weeks
