So... I have a 70gallon tank, and wanted to know how many angelfish would be a good number to buy to put in my tank....

I've been going threw sooooooooooo much with my tank, it's really sad... having not known anything about it, to high ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.... fishing dieing....... brown algea problem (which I'm still dealing with now)....... ughh, man I've spent sooo much money on this tank....... and right now, I just hate my tank... so, I figured if I bought myself some new fish... that well, maybe I'll fall in love with it allll over again... hehe...

Here's what's in my tank at the moment...

3 cories
4 rasboras
6 zebra danios?.. not even sure now, I started with 10.. lol
and 1 platie

Anyways, yes I know I still have tuns of room to add more fish... but I want to start slow... start with the angelfish, and see how they do for afew weeks... so how many angelfish would be good to get?.. Also keep in mind that I do want to add other fish in too over time...

Another question would be, what fish should I get to help with the algea problem?... I had some weird looking one before, kinda looked like a branch, and he did nothing but hide... I had him for weeks before I finally got red up and gave him away...

Some information about my tank, it's a 70gallon, been set up for 6months?... it's fully cycled... has fake silk plants, and a log and well as a rock in there...

Angels you could probably do 4 in 70 gal easily. I'd do an even number tho. I've noticed that when I have an "odd man out" he gets harassed more. As for algae I'd recommend a group of Oto's or maybe 1 chinese algae eater. I have danios with my angels and they do great together. I like them cuz they're active and come in lots of varieties. I especially like the blues.

Angels can be pretty fragile. I'd find out what's wrong with your tank first and fix it before adding anymore fish. Danios are pretty hardy. If you had a bunch up and die on you then you might have something funky going on with your water. If you add fish now, especially angels, you're probably just going to be wasting your money.

Also, make sure you go for siamese algea eaters, if any, not Chinese algea eaters. Chinese agea eaters are renown for killing other fish as they mature (forgot if they bite the eyes or if they simply bite and suck the sides of other fish). Anyways, they're NOT cool!

Good luck with your tank, with a bit of research and luck, you can turn that 70 gallon into one fine looking centerpiece in your house!

No, the danios died because my tank went threw a high nitrate and nitrite spike because it was cycling... and well, I didn't know anything about keeping a fish tank until after having all the fish in there... I had a pretty nice load of fish at the beginning... but they slowly died off because of the nitrite and nitrate spikes...

After doing weeks of research and daily water changes, I can officially say that my tank now is fully cycled... and has been for a good... month or maybe two?.. my only problem is this brown algea...

Ammonia- 0
pH- 7.6
GH- 180
KH- 130
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 5

that's the test results from my tank that I took earlier today...

Jeeze, I didn't know about that! LFS said they'd be compatible. Guess whose getting their fish back.

I had some brown algea for a while, but my Siamese Algea Eater took care of it in no time. I would suggest getting one of them, since they are not aggressive, and they are still cool looking fish!
