angelfish +? help!!!

:read: I have a 125 gal. that I just got as a surprise from my husband. After I set it up and cycle it, I would like to put some Angels, some Dwarf Gourami, some clown Loaches, my common Pl*co(which is unhappy in my 20 gal.)and 8 Zebra Danios for cycling that I don't know what to do with but keep after cycle. Now, Is the a good match and How many of each should I get. I read that the Gourami need to be females outnumbering males, and clown loaches need at least 4-5. Any other help or suggestions.

I would start out with an even number of juvenile angels. Perhaps 4 or 6. They have a tendency to start a pecking order and will exile and pick on one unlucky reject. You might have more luck with an even number because you're pretty much guaranteed that you'll end up with a very bossy pair.

As for the clownloaches, I would get about 5. They do grow large and need very clean water.

The dwarf grouamis would do well with a 3-4 female, two male ratio. Keep the males flirty and busy, so they don't pick on eachother. :p

Lots of plants, lots of driftwood and hiding places, you'll have have a very pretty community :)
 
Thank you very much. Researching tankmates is very hard and I can't seem to find any good answers. Yours helps alot.

Seem to be doing ok; both pairs have laid eggs!
 
keep in mind that with 4-6 angels you will most likely end up with a 'pair' I have 2 pair in a 55..they don't bother the BN's I have in there but they pretty much are the only fish other than the angels in this tank..and it is almost divided in half. (one pair on each end)

I also have a 'pair in my discus tank..but they haven't spwned in weeks.

i plan on moving them to another tank soon and combine my discus on the large tank.
 
I've noticed that my two pair "live" on each side of the tank; funny enough, the latest spawn was from the Right hand pair who spawn on a plant just to the left of center. The other two stayed away for the time being.
 
I'm kind of a spaz about odd numbers, I feel groups of odd numbers look more natural. Just like aquascaping, odd number of rocks, nothing dead-center, etc.

So I've made the mistake of buying three angels, having two pair off and the poor lonely schmoe being exiled and picked on. At least with an even number, there are more chances for pairing to occur and not everyone to be lonely and bullied. :D
 
zebra danois may stress out the tangels and end up as snacks... some larger tetras would be a better choice.

clown loaches will get to big for a 125 gallon and really need at least 180 gallons. flagtail catfish are pretty cool and would be a good choice instead, and they only get half as big!
 
if you get clowns and hope to breed the angels the clowns will eat any thing they can fit in there mouths.so if eggs are laid / fry are around imo they wont last long!!...
