I want about 5 loaches for my 75 gallon tank. I'd thought about getting dwarf loaches, but now I'm afraid my Golden Wonder killi, Flo, is big enough to eat them, having caught her with a medium-sized danio halfway down her throat.

So, I went back to my original plan of getting Yo-yos. However, the LFS has angelicus loaches on sale for $9.99, marked down from $19.99. They look healthy and they've been there awhile.

Pretty fish, but I don't know anything about angelicus. How big do they get? How aggressive, are they as fun to watch as Yo-yos?

Tankmates would be congo tetras, flame rio tetras, zebra danios, the two killis and perhaps one day, pearl gouramis.

Because of the killi and the fact my diatom population is going down I guess I won't get any otoclinus.

10 bucks is a steal for those fish... I haven't seen them lower then 20 dollars.

Thanks, that helps. I had forgotten about that site. Looks like they'll fit in with my tank and fish.

It also looks like I might want to work out some sort of screen to keep them from swimming into my HOB.

Is the store a Petsmart? The Petsmart by me has them for sale at $9.99 too! I will probably get some....I have been annoying my wife all week by yelling out "KUBOTAI" out of the blue for no reason since I saw the name a week ago...

lol, it's because of post like this that my family worries about me Yo (I laugh while staring at text on the monitor)

Euglossa, they are very interesting loaches, with plenty of personality. Here's a pic of a feeding frenzy over some cucumber... sadly, gave this tank to my friends with the loaches:

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

1. My son and I are know marching around the house singing "We are the soldiers of KUBOTAI!" and;

2. My wife and I went to Petsmart and we bought the last 4 Botia kubotai they had! they range from 2 to 3 inches and look very healthy and happy!

:clap: Congrats Yo. I have been afflicted with " fish Tourette's" on occaision, I'll have to see if I can focus on 1 species at a time. It has to overcome my husband's wife (& fish) deafness. Kubotais are on my short list.

euglossa, I've never kept killies so no good advice. Do you have another tank either species could be moved to "in case of emergency"? How much bigger than the danio are the kubs? Danios are usually faster than many fish unless it's long-finned. Most loaches grow pretty slow.

anyone know if they would eat those tiny parasitic snails that come on petsmart's live plants? we have way too many. i read somewhere that yoyo loaches would . . .
