My angelfish keeps gasping at the surface of the water every now and then. None of the other fish do. Is this due to lack of oxygen because I am now adding CO2? (since boxing day). If so what can i do??

Thanks,
momar

i had the very same problem with my goldfish tank.

once i purchased a wet/dry filter and an air pump, everything was better.

If one is dosing Co2 to promote plant growth, air bubblers and things that stir the surface of the water are believed to be counter productive. If the Co2 measure too high, the best thing to do is to cut back on the amount of carbon dioxide you are pushing into the water column.

well then he could just dose more CO2 to counter the counter productive oxygen. :)

Ii guess you get your CO2 for free? The accepted practice is the one I outlined earlier. Measure the CO2 by doing a PH and a KH test, then dose to ~20ppm.

Thanks for the help. according to that calculator, CO2 is 16.128 ppm.
