I have some angelfish and LF serpae tetras in my 46gal tank. I noticed that the tetras are occasionally attacking the fins of my angels (they are just juvies). Will this behaviour stop or do i need to remove the LF serpae tetras? If i have to keep them apart, anyone have some good suggestion for tankmates? I'm looking for a school of smaller, colorful fish to brighten up the tank a little.

Harlequin Rasboras...
They were going to be my choice to go with my angelfish until I decided I wanted to stick with South American fish.

Glofish

Does anyone know if Glofish would be good tankmates with Angels and a couple of plecos? They look really nice and colorful, I just dont know if they will end up as angelfish snack food!!

Remove the serpaes. These are fin nippers no matter how they look. Replace with more peaceful ones such as black neons.

Harlies are fine with angelfish. If you prefer SA, then go for black neons, rummy-nose tetras, lemons, kerris and diamonds.

How many LF Serpaes do you have? They tend to pick almost exclusively on their own kind once you reach "critical mass".
The irony with long-finned variants is that their fins never lasted long especially with their nasty habit to nip most of the time.

I have 5 LFs, do you think I need more?
No, get rid of them.

Glofish are fine provided the tank is not cramped for space. I'd suggest buying the ordinary zebra danios. You do not need to spend an extra couple of bucks just for those genetically modified fish.

Buneious Aires Tetras, I love these guys. I have a whole school of these!
No. These are far too nippy for the angelfish.

I keep my Serpaes with tiger barbs and it works fine for me.
But angelfish are entirely different from tiger barbs. Tiger barbs are nippers themselves and can defend themselves quite well whereas the angelfish is obviously a different story.

Hmmm.... Now I have no idea what I'm gonna do with these serpae tetras. Anyone wants?? :)
Sell them or give them to the LFS. Better yet, make it an excuse to secure another tank.
