One of my pairs spawned on Friday. Watching them Sunday night as they were defending the eggs and noticed they were also picking at/cleaning a leaf about 8 inches away.

Come home last night, and all the original eggs are gone and a new batch laid on the new leaf.

I wouldn't have thought the female would have had enough eggs to lay another batch so quick (both spawns were normal size), and I wonder what was wrong with the first leaf.

Might be that the female was doing the female thing and "no, lets move the bed over there", "no, I like it better over there"?

Fishies can get you wondering at times.

Or is that their Master Plan? "Hey guys, lets screw with the mind of the Big Hand that feeds us !"

eggs were laid friday? then moved monday?
take a closer look at them..I bet you have wigglers
if the eggs were laid friday they would hatch about monday.
 
Nope-fresh eggs.

I think-no movement.
 
Nope; been spawning every two weeks or so for the last 2-3 months (in sequence with the other pair now-must be the raging hormones in the tank).

Fry don't get more than 2-3 days beyond free swimming before they get eaten (I assume by Mom & Dad-they are there when I go to bed, but gone in the AM)

B. 1. In a community tank the pair will keep all the other fish in the tank away from the eggs and / or fry as long as they can. Sooner or later the fry will fall victim to the other fish in the tank.
2. Your pair may or may not choose to raise their fry. Most will. After the spawning is over the pair will continue to go through the motions as they do during the spawning. This time, however they are not laying eggs but they are fanning the eggs to keep the dirt off of them. this reticule will continue for days even after the eggs are hatched. The pair may even move the eggs to another location altogether. You might think they are eating the eggs at that time. They might think they are moving them to a cleaner or safer place. After 3 days the eggs will hatch and in 10 days they will be swimming. That's when fun for the parents really begins. The pair will try to keep the school in a small tight group. As the fry grow, however this will become harder and harder. Soon the fry will be going anywhere they want to. The pair may start to thin out the group knowing that the tank space will not be big enough for all 400 of them. And one morning when you go to feed them you will see 2 very fat Angelfish which will not need any breakfast or even lunch.

It may be quite possible that they did move the eggs...found this article at the link provided...but ya never know...:)​

these eggs would have hatched ..if they were ready to spawn again after s short a time..usually after a spawn they won't spawn again for about 2 weeks.

is this the only pair.

if you get 3-4 day old frees swimmers and want to keep them ..move them to a rearing tank..hatch out some bbs (you need to anyway)
start hatching the bbs when you get wigglers..keep the cycle in the hatch out going and feed the free swimmers bbs(make sure they are still orange)
 
2 pair in the tank.

One pair stays/spawns on one side, the other pair the other.

Both pair spawned at the same time this time, although the left pair's eggs are gone (who knows?)

Did raise the first spawn from the left pair. They had spawned on the filter intake. Put intake in a new bare bottomed 10 gallon with a seasoned sponge filter, fed with BBS.

Only six survived after two weeks, they just found a new home (4 months old) with my god-daughter.

To be totally honest, not really interested in raising them as a vocation/hobby, finding a home for them can be bothersome. Just found it weird that the eggs had moved/relaid...
 
I had eggs that I thought were gone once in my 55..the female hide the wigglers behind a log.3-4 days later I see baby angels(freeswimmers) swimming around mom.
