Angels not doing well :(

Ammo was 0, Nitrites 0, and Nitrates was at looked like between 0-5 on my card. No more losses and fish are happily eating again. I'm going to do another water change tomorrow night and lower the temp some more and hopefully hit 78 and not 80. I'm also holding off on replacing angels till the tank shows stability again.

OK, looks like you are on the right track, but don't stress the fish even more by playing with the temp now. 40% water changes easy on the prime, it is concentrated.
Sometimes cleaning too much causes problems, I learned the hard way. Easy with cleaning your filter also. just because someone says something, doesn't mean you should follow. some people like to use chems, you will find most members here don't.
Keep the water clean and you will be fine, do not panic, simple slow steps sometimes are best.
If the fish are eating it is a good sign.
By the way you can't keep too many angels in one tank.

Going back to the first page:
It's been up now for almost 3 months and used one of my HOB filters to seed it. I saw the initial spikes and followed the guidelines to cycling as best as I could then put in my canister filters.

Do you mean that you added the canister filters after it was cycled and then took out the HOBs right away? Or did you have the canisters and the HOB running at the same time for a while? Taking out the HOBs with the established media and then completely changing to new media in the canisters will remove the beneficial bacteria that were in the HOBs (some stays on the surface of the tank, sand, etc. but majority in filters).

I had the canister and the HOB in for about a week before I needed the HOB for my 29. It was a nitrogen pocket that I hit and mini cycled the tank.

I had to lower teh temp a bit because it was hitting 82 in the tank. They are much happier now that the tank is 80 and slowly dropping back down. I have to dose prime due to my well being chlorinated and never had a problem before with 8 angels in this tank.
