A 2" african would shred a whole tank of angels, I have no doubts. I bred and traded/sold african fish for a long time, one guy put a few adult malawi in his tank with a bunch of adult SA cichlids. Sadly he would not listen and in a few days it was team Mbuna 1 - SA 0.
Yeah we dont need to get mad here... at least he was asking before he went ahead and did it (unlike some people).
I agree with pretty much everything that has been said. When you are speaking of aggression levels you have to keep in mind the type of setup they are going to be in. When someone says angels are aggressive- it means compared to the other fish that you will be keeping with them- other angels, tetras, maybe other SA/CA cichlids, etc etc. When you say angels are peaceful its in terms of the overall picture- they are very peaceful compared to some rowdy africans. You need to be careful when saying one or the other, because BOTH do apply, which can lead to confusion for the beginner aquarist.
Mbuna, and all rift-lakes for example, save for some "peaceful" Tangs, are too agressive for angels.
Even if you find a SA/CA cichlid that rivals the aggression of some africans, the water chemistry and diet are usually very different. It is highly reccommended, by people who are expert in the hobby and have tried such things, NOT to keep these fish together.
You could do it, but the succsess rate is slim-to-none and you will in the end be wasting your money and the lives of beautiful fishies.
