I just emptied a 5g tank that use to be SW. I added some gravel and a few live plants and was planning on houseing a few snails and ghost shrimp and a few neons. I went to wal-mart last night to get the snails and neon, and they had about 25 small angelfish in one tank. All were either floating on the top or laying on the bottom dead. There was two that was swimming around, but barely. I bought them, and stuck them in with the neons. They are about quarter size. Now tomorrow I want to setup a 10g for them and the neons. Will this suffice until they get a little bigger? I have a 55g with a few livebearers and I want to add them to that tank, but I want to make sure they are disease free before I do? Will they be OK in a 10g for a month or so?

GREAT thanks! They are swimming around and ate this morning. I hate going to wal-mart to get fish! I always end up buying something else:) The tanks are always lined with dead fish. They had about 8 puffers in a tank and thier fins were all covered in ich.

In the future, I would suggest a kind word or two to management about the deplorable conditions in the fish area, the inappropriateness of keeping brackish species in FW etc.

Despite your good intentions, the store in question (mods like it if you eschew naming the offenders) is not discouraged when you buy their last living speciments - quite the opposite.
