finkids make me happy :-)
Could it be that betta products are "watered down" in order to reduce the concentration to levels that are safer for bettas?
myself and many other fishkeepers use the plain ol' regular aquarium products all the time on bettas and their tanks. bettas aren't some wussy, fragile fish that need special attention/treatment/products. if so, how would anyone possibly put a betta in a community tank setting? (and many do very successfully)
it's a sales gimmick, plain and simple. the only betta specific product i would use is the Betta Revive, but that is just because it just happens to work so well, not because it is a 'betta product'.
and yes, malachite green is considered an ich med, but the Betta Revive is an anti-protazoan, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial med. it works wonders for fin rot, trust me. just make sure you are doing daily water changes while using it, so that the meds can be most effective and the clean water can help things along.
