Another Dumb Reef Tank Build Thread

Your tank looks awsome, really like the way the rocks turned out! Like the rubbermaid you set the pump in...keeps the sand out our the pump, great idea. What don't you like about the sump, looks great to me - lots of room for LR and Macroalgae.
 
If you ask me, and also being from california, 90 gallon tank with overflow, stand, and canopy for $800? That's a STEAL.

I think its really starting to come along well...good effort on creating the rock pillars...looks good and effective...Great progress...looking forward to more updates as they arrive...

Almondsaz-the only reason I don't like it is because of me having to use the rubbermaid container I wished it had a seperate baffle in it to zone off the refuge area and pump area. I had some sheets of acrylic and tried to install some baffles, but that became several problems in it self. One I discovered that silicone doesn't adhear well to acrylic. The other was I forgot how acrylic bows a little with the pressure of water. Another problem was after I siliconed the baffle in, I discovered that there is a good and bad silicone to use. (Guess which one I selected.) I have read that Mildew protected silicone is a no no for your tank. Let me tell you how fun it is to get off silicone after it has set up on acrylic for a couple of days. SOoooo.......... I decided to leave the sump like it was buy a different one later on. I like the one I got, but you know how this hobbie goes.... You can never be satisfied, you always want more for your swimming children!
 
aphoucks....you are so right. I already want a different sump, that is why I asked. My fuge is really small, but was a custom that has been used at my local Reef Store. I have to laugh becuase there is always a better something that we just have to have. Must be the equipment..."he who has the most toys wins" or however that saying goes.
 
Your right salty I was just walking into the store when the manager was placing the sign on the tank I told him remove it immediatly because I was walking out of the store with the tank.

Maybe a should buy the whole lot of rock from my LFS and sell it discounted to my peers on this forum....LOL
