Another great rescue by me chevo

I agree that no matter what living organism you buy you should DO YOUR BEST to give it the best possible care and attempt to make it thrive. If you dont even try, then you are like the lady with the kid that wouldnt even teach him the responsibility of caring for a living thing (god help us when he grows up and has kids of his own).

BUT

If you dont see the difference between a plant and a fish I'm not so sure you should be keeping fish.... . :OT:

You're on the verge of contradicting yourself with that post, and in my opinion, you did.

My whole point with the analogy was to emphasize that one persons passion, isn't the case with the next. I can understand my passion for keeping my fish, but I can also understand that some people don't.

With the second part of your post: "if you can't see the difference between a plant and a fish..." you're showing your own blindness to the level of passion those people have for their plants; it's the same as we have for our fish. You're making it sound like if that plant dies, it's not as bad as if a fish dies.

I gotta go to work.

Look, do I really need to go into detail about how a plant is different from a fish?

I REALLY do not feel like arguing with you. I couldnt care less about your stupid analogy. Everyone has different passions, and many people have several passions. I am passionate about nature. But sorry to burst your bubble here deary, plants and animals are different. Its called- a brain and central nervous system. I do not like to see plants die. I think everyone should care for living things equally. If she did not have a passion for keeping fish thats fine, but she should not have gotten them for her son on a whim because he threw a fit in the store... especially if she wasnt even going to get the son to do any research and be responsible with life!

Are you upset when you see someone cutting the grass or pruning a tree? No. But do you get upset when you see someone pulling the legs off a starfish? I would. They grow back but it doesnt mean they dont feel it and suffer pain.

Those fish in that tank were suffering. They were aware what was happening. They weren't dieing from a lack of light or anything like that.... they were stewing in thier own waste.

I dont know why you continually argue your point, even though I pretty much agreed with you on your statement. I've seen from previous posts of yours that you have an attitude, and IMO this is no place for that. People come here to get advice and give advice on keeping fish... not to be harassed by you when they share thier experiences.

ALSO, quite frankly, I do not see what your 'analogy' has to do with anything here. Are you trying to say its okay for the lady to leave living little fishies out on the side of the street to get thrown out with the trash because people do that to plants?

I don't think you understand him. He is just trying to get a point across. Use the same situation with a lightning bug jar. Chevo Shouldn't have gone back and argued with the lady but sometimes you are just a little mad. Also I admire you SoCalSunset you know how to disagree quietly without trying to tar and feather them. So let's keep this together people or this will end up a closed post.

How is he disagreeing quietly? I practically aggreed with what he said and he blew up at me.

Chevo didnt go back to argue with the lady, he went back to ask why the living fish are being left out for the trash. If anyone did that to a puppy or kitten, animals rights would be all over them. But for some reason its okay to do it to a fish?

I guess I just care a little more than some people... and I'm a little mad that animals get treated the way they do nowadays. Humans think they are superior when in fact most of the species on this planet were here before us and will be after we kill ourselves as a species... we should be moving out of thier way, not the other way around.

I know it isn't fair but in the eyes of that lady they are just like lightning bugs Cheap And dispensable. She probaly would have been more likely to repent if someone had quietly explained what was wrong with what she was doing. Which is exactly What Chevo did later. I congratulate him for doing that. Bravo.
I guess he did kinda get mad later but still his first post was rather nice. Let's not turn this into a personal fight either. Good luck with your fish Chevo and everyone else here as well :D
