Another IDing fish thread... please look

Sorry all, but that's a classic American shubunkin. He has one tail fin, a slender body, and no dorsal hump. He's very cute!
He may be chubby from stunting. Likely since he was kept in such poor conditions. Feed him well and keep his water clean and he should be fine. :)

Thank you so much!!!!! I knew i was right ;) And yes he is stunted but im sure he will fill out :)

Do you know how big he will get?

Depends. If he is stunted there is a chance that he may not continue growing. But other fish owners had noted that previously stunted fish will start to grow again as if nothing happened. I personally would plan for maximum size, which is about a foot in length for an adult shubunkin I believe...someone correct me if I am wrong.

So cute, I have a shubunkin like that as well and I would say mine is pushing 6inches already. I know that is still small in the goldfish world :)

Plan for a bit larger than 12 inches. Mine is 14 inches at only two years old. I expect him to grow to about 18 total length. In a pond, shubunkins can reach 20+ inches. :) But a stunted fish might not ever reach that. It all depends on how old he is now, how long he was in the tiny tank. For him, I'd plan for 14 inches and remember that he might still grow larger, but it's not too likely.
