I puchased 2 of these africans at my lfs. They look like johanni with the same markings and body shape but they are an orange/yellow color. I know what you are thinking, they are just females. These little guys are only 1 inch long!!! There is no way these fish are would be showing adult colors, or would they? Or are they some sort of crossbreed?

I'm going to asume that the color is a little off. You said orange/yellow so im thinking either juvi. Pseudotropheus saulosi or female Pseudotropheus saulosi.

agree whith xhibition...probleby young Ps saulosi....I wonder:here in sweden the lfs "must" ID fish before selling....how can folks take care of the fish otherwise? If they dont now what it is?

The blue one is a socolofi. Both sexes are blue. the orange one could be female or juvenile of a multiple of different fishes, saulosi, or Johanni or faux-Johhani. :) The stress marks suggest the latter.
