I just started my 72 gal tank 3 weeks ago... currently i have a sump with the remora skimmer, a heater. also I have 2 powerhead...i don't have too much Live rock only about 20lb. and 3 inch of LS. My question is, do i need a HOB Power filter?

what kind of filtration are you running with your sump? Any bioballs or a refugium? What gallon is your skimmer rated at?
i would certainly suggest to have an additional hob filter as the ammount of live rock in not of a high enough qty to provide the filtration for you require for the tank...

I was not planning to have too much LR... so hob filter would be an option? and if so .. what would be a good filter?
yes, a hob filter would be a good route to choose...you want to buy one that is slightly bigger than the gallon size of your tank...

yup i agree. larger is always better as well. make sure u use the appropriate media as well and replace bio media with live rock rubble.
