Another "Noob with a tank" question

I have very hard water also. In my 125g, I use mostly RO water, but in my 29g I use straight tap water. Lots of fish do better in hard water. In my tank, I have swordtails, platies and upside-down catfish, but if you do a little research you can find many different options for hard water.

As a beginner I would get guppies, they are beautiful and hardy. I'd say a dozen would be good in a tank that size, or do six guppies and six cory cats.
