Another Stocking Question

As a suggestion, I would look into the serpae tetras...I prefer the long-finned ones personally and a school of 6-8 would look good. They have nice colour and should be able to hold their own in the tank with the leporinus. Just an FYI you may have to get a larger tank for that Leporinus though in the future as they can get quite large(up to a foot) and some can be pretty nasty as they mature and age. Very nice fish though, I must admit!
Also, please don't take any of Bob's suggestions seriously. Though Clowns would be nice, they do get too large for a 29 so I don't know why he suggested them :huh: Just ask tons of questions and do extra research on your own..that way you should be able to easily weed out the bogus suggestions given etc.

serpaes are nice, you could also go with a bigger school of little tetras or rasboras. in the long run though your leporinus will get big enough to eat a lot of smaller tankmates so serpae sized tetras might be best. I agree with candycat- leporinus get really big, I have actually seen one that was around 19", but a foot is definitely standard. I woudl think about rehoming him or getting a larger tank. What kind of pleco do you have? they can get big too. clown loaches absolutely get too huge for your tank. If you like loaches you might try some of the smaller botia species like yoyos. But if you do go for long finned fish I woudl avoid botias.

I live about 45 minutes from Charlotte but I have a sister that lives off Carmel Rd. She got a new puppy last weekend so we were at your store twice! When I go for me I usually go the the University store since its closer.
If you dont mind which department do you work in?? Petsmart is my border collie mix's favorite place to visit.

I work in the Specialty Department....fish, small animals, birds. I will be moving over to the Equine Department though as Manager sometime soon as there's a new Specialty Manager taking over from the last one on Monday and her and I don't get along too well....so if you're ever getting fish or small animals or birds, come and find me!! Please don't take any advice from "Ranae" She doesn't know what she's talking about!!! :duh:

redsrun, it's difficult to help u make a decision if u don't have a shortlist or at least tell us what type of fish are your favourites... we could help u with compatibilty... but only u know your tank setting, your favourite 'fish personalities'... active? responds to your presence? colourful? not so common? exotic? hardy? what are things u look for most in a fish u'd wanna have? u could tell us that and we could suggest candidates...

It is ALWAYS best to only recommend fish that will fit in the current tank, things happen and a bigger aquarium might not!! Plus, not everyone knows the adult size of many fish, and might think that your recommendation was suitable without doing their own research
