Thanks for the reply about angelfish and tiger barbs. I might just start a seperate tank for angelfish since I would really like to have some. I was wondering if the barbs would bother the tetras that I have in another tank. Was thinking about putting them together. Thinking it might be ok since the tetras are pretty active and don't have any long fins to be nipped at. As you can probably tell I'm not the most experienced when it comes to fish other than goldfish, tetras, and bettas. That's been my sheltered experience! I did learn you can't always rely on the young kid who works at Petland. When I purchased a Ropefish, he forgot to mention they will jump out of the tank! Guess that's why you have to do your own research.

If you do start a seperate angel tank, I'd reccomend going bigger than seems prudent :P I have 4 in my 55, and they are definitely cool fish. they eat like pigs and grow really fast, so you'll need to keep up on the water changes.

The have the most personality of any fish I've ever owned though.

What kind of tetras are you putting the tiger barbs with? if they have flowy fins, like the black phantom tetras, I'd advise against it. my tiger barbs nipped the heck out of my black phantoms before I seperated them.

I did learn you can't always rely on the young kid who works at Petland.

But sometimes you can. I'm 16 and I just got hired at my lfs. :dance Hehe you never know who you're getting though...

Angels are extremely cool fish, and are one of my personal favorites. Be sure to keep them in a tall tank (such as a 18 tall or a 55) if you want them to reach full size. Four inches long doesn't seem like much, but when you consider their shape and how big those fins are...

Agreed - a tall tank is important for angels. I've seen posts from people who said their angels measured 9" vertically (fin tip to fin tip) and weren't through growing!
If you want to keep a small group 55g is a nice size. I'd love to keep 6 or 7 in a tank of 100g or more...
