Anubias and the Rock

I am having trouble getting my anubias nana to stay planted. I have heard that attaching it to a rock will help keep it down and make it easier to move around. My only question is how do you go about attaching it to a rock. Any tips?

You can get them to grow on all kinds of things. I have two nana plants growing on a coconut.

The method I use is a rubber band to hold the rhizome in place for a few weeks. Then I cut the band off and pull it out. You could also use fishing line. I think some people use dark string but I'm not too sure about that one.

Yes you can use dark thread. The advantage might be that by the time the thread decomposes, the plant should have attached itself.

I also like to use rubber bands. I feel they are a bit less abrasive on the plant and they are a breeze to use.

I used thread on all my anubias, java ferns and java moss... when they attached, I just snipped the thread and pulled it out.

I've heard you can buy rocks with purple string already attached to them. I personally use the rubberbands myself. On smaller plants Hair pins make a very nice anchor (thanks to RTR for that Idea)

I have tried both thread and rubber bands. I found that the threads decomposed before the plants were firmly attached. The rubber bands decompose too but last much longer. YMMV.

I find that purple string works particularly well.
