Anubias Help!

Ok thanks, How lon does it usually take for an anubias to latch onto the rock? When It does, I shoulden't take it off correct?

you can take it off if you need to move it for some reason but plants in general do better when they're not fussed with too much other than trimming and ferts.

it should only be a couple weeks maybe just over a month depending on your growth. if you leave it on longer it will just attach a little better. i cannot say how long for sure it will take in your setup for a good grip but i would assume at about 6 weeks it should have a nice death grip.

I couldn't find any pics of the rhizome... in between the roots and the stems, there is this other part, it looks like a really thick part of the stem. That part can not be buried at all, or the plant will rot. That is why they are usu. tied to something to root on.

Well It seems like I have burried it, so I learned my lesson now....What I have left is doing ok, but it hasn't been too long. I'll know In a few days

one note; fishing line may not break down and many less expensive brands will not. you have to pay a little... lot extra to save the environment slightly. isn't that a hoot?

anyway it's easy enough to cut through later.

FYI, fishing line with the exception of fluorocarbon line will photo degrade over time.. it is sensitive to light and will break down.
this is especially true with inexpensive monofilament lines.
I always use cheap mono when tying down java fern, moss and anubias.

Paintballer, as long as the rhizome is relatively healthy it will probably bounce back.
if you are curious what the rhizome looks like , you can clearly see it in the picture you posted. simply fallow the leaf back to where it attaches to the 'stem', the stem is actually the rhizome.

If I had to guess from the picture.. that plant will be fine.. what is left of the rhizome looks pretty healthy.

For the future...

Anubias and Java ferns or anything else that looks like it has a rhizome. Keep the rhizome above the substrate.

Another you might come across are the aponogetons.
They have a bulb. Keep this above the substrate also.
Not that you want to tie it to anything. But, just bury the roots.
