i've recently come to appreciate the humble anubias, my steadfast a. barteri nana having burgeoned into a beautiful little clump while all the stem plants have come and gone.

So when I was in the local store and saw they had a 6 or 7 new varieties I picked some up without too many questions. They are labelled as A. Gracilis, A. Congensis, A. Heterophila & A. Longitifolia

Wikipedia (doubtful reference I know) lists A. Congensis as a synonym of A. Heterophylla - is this correct? I was hoping congensis would stay slightly smaller.

I can find nothing regarding Longitifolia. It does have long leaves, so I assume they just made up the name on it:

Any ideas as to what this could be? sorry for the horrible quality, I had to take the photo with my phone.

thanks, lanceolata looks about right. definitely not congensis.

longifolia is a pretty common species name, there's one in every genus. kind of the plant equivalent of Smith ;)

If you take a cutting from the right end of the rhizome when there's new growth there, you can start to propegate the plant. It'll be a slow grower, but it'll work.

Minima does look very similar, but the leaves have an odd but very appealing top-heavy shape that looks a bit more like the Lanceolata photos i'm finding.

I definitely plan on propagating these plants once they have a few more stems on them, I have already got four new plants established from my nana :)
