Anubias Nana Mini vs Petite

whatd you get and who was it from?

check out the thread in my sig...last pasge shows the condition these guys are in...and they're awesome

i got a narrow leaf java fern from aquaticmagic. they had a bazillion reviews and a 99% approval rating so hopefully itll be legit...

ok well the star moss i got from aquaticmagic came in just fine and is a little messy but pretty legit.

however the anubias i tried getting from aquaticmagic was flagged by customs and I never got it...not ordering from them again...

Yep, I had won two auctions of the mini petite from them. Each auction had two plants. I got the first set of plants that turned out to be a disaster and the second set never showed up. I have no clue what ever happened to the second set. They refunded all my money after a lot of trouble. I have come to the conclusion that I would rather support other hobbyists in the US and other businesses in the US than a place overseas even if it costs me a couple dollars more, especially when it is a nightmare to get them to refund my money (i.e., they require a picture, then ask for me to wait a couple weeks to see if the plants come back even though I am telling them that one has already disintegrated and the other only has a single leaf remaining that is half yellow). I had the same issue with another place in Hong Kong, but it was over a cycling jersey. It took them 23 days to get the jersey to me and then it turned out to be the wrong one. They wanted me to send them pictures before they would believe me, and then they wanted me to ship it back to them on my own dime before they would send me the correct jersey but they would be nice enough to refund the postage once they received it. In the meantime they still had my money. I was pissed about them requiring pictures and then asking me to return it. Hello, if I returned it without the pictures, they would have the evidence right in front of them.

As a condition of receiving a refund from both places, I agreed not to leave negative feedback. Since I am a man of my word, and I am guessing that most people that deal with these places are, very rarely does negative feedback hit their profile. Me, I'm staying away from stuff that comes from Hong Kong.

Edit:

I thought you had said earlier that you received your anubias "mini" and that you loved them. I'm confused. What didn't show up?

i ordered some moss, crypts and anubias eyes from them. the moss came completely dried out. the rest of the order was great. the anubias had a couple flattened leaves but whatever. they refunded my $$ for the moss without any hassle. i'll probably order anubias mini and petite and they had one other one, once the weather warms up this in the spring. it took a really long time for the plants to get here, i was surprised they were still alive. the whole order was only 5 something so less than it would cost for a peice of anubias at my lps.

my moss was completely dry and flat too but i put it in the water and it perked right up...check the last pic in my thread which is in my sig. now theres a bunch of oxygen bubbles forming on them :)

Why is it illegal to ship plants?

Well, it's not illegal to ship plants inside the US(unless they are on the noxious weed list) , but it's illegal to import them without a license. They must ship through customs. It's not a big deal to do, but given the cost of shipping and import fees, it's cost prohibitive on small orders.
