i just bought an anubias frazeri. the plant came in a little plastic pot type thing. should i leave the plant in the plastic pot, or take it out.

or if i wanted to attach it to a rock, what would i use to attach it.
thanks

Take it out and carefully pull the wool out from around the roots (assuming there is wool in the plastic pot) – that wool can contain fertilizers (or the seller tank water) that you don’t want to add to your tank.

To attach it, you can use thin fishing line, or thread or hair elastics. Black is a nice hidey colour for the thread or elastics – the ‘snag free’ hair elastics stretch a lot so just get the small ones. I’ve used all 3. I prefer the fishing line, but sometimes tying it on an odd shaped rock is too challenging, it keeps slipping off, and then the elastics work well.

Yep, just carefully remove the wool from around the roots and set it where you want it to go. I personally have attached all my anubias to rocks. I found it easier to move them around and ensure that the rhizome stays uncovered by the substrate. I like to use black thread to tie the plants down but I have one that I am trying to attach to a piece of driftwood but it is at a funny angle so I couldn't tie it down with string. Instead I unbent a coated paperclip and rebent it around the plant and the driftwood to keep it in place. It works great and I haven't had any problems with it except that it's not the prettiest thing while the roots of the anubias grow out!
