This is not really true, Some fish just DON'T get along and you don't need to throw them in a tank together to find out!! I think it is very wise to learn from others mistakes...
Definately try to get a couple more of the same cory, they are schooling fish, it will be much more active with some friends. The mollies and platys will definately have babies, but with the other fish it might be tricky to save them. You can QT the mother when it is about to have babies and save some that way, but I personally see it as free food :laugh: !! I know my platys have fry, but I never seem to notice when. I have however had a few survivors, and I figure they have earned their spot in the tank.
Someone will correct me hopefully, but look into keeping angels and gouramis together, I'm not sure that they get along well
