I know they exist but I have never cycled before so I do not know what is credible. Of course if I read 10 articles all making the same points I am to assume it is true, but I prefer to do on what has worked or continues to work for other people. Please send me links if possible!

There are a lot of links around the forum on cycling. I highly, strongly suggest you use the fishless cycling method. It's easier on you, not cruel to the fish, and you don't have to get "hardy" fish for the cycle. Plus, you can add more fish at once.

In a TINY nutshell, you simply buy a 1$ bottle of PURE ammonia and add enough to register about 5-8ppm of ammonia. Keep feeding the tank some ammonia and watch for the nitrites to spike, then to go to zero, then for the nitrates to start. It's done when there are no more nitrites or ammonia.

Try searching google and here at AC for fishless and cyle:)
