awwww, thanks Bally!

and i totally agree with you. i have used dogs and cats many times to find out if somebody is worth their weight in rubber chickens, lol. if that person gets an unfavourable 'review' from the pet then they're not cool in my books.

and oh, my kiddo just beams when Gery decides to come climbing on her :)

you know, in all my research and reading the past day or so (wanted to make sure i was prepared for my house guest!), i've seen that it takes a while for a chin to bond with you.

well...... i don't think Gery has read the same things i have, lol! she seems to have clicked with me right away, isn't scared, loves to have her chin rubbed, and gives those lil love nibbles......... i think i'm gonna cry when she goes back home, lol.
Hide her when it is time for her to go and say she ran away!!:evil_lol:

hahaha! yeah.... i wish. i think if i did that the owners would ask me to buy them a new one, and chins aren't cheap in igloo land! minimum 75 bucks, and at that price i think health would be questionable.

Gery is so cute! Like a rabbit with a tail, and smaller ears.

I have a pair of females, Sally and Tuesday. Lots of fun. The love raisins. But don't give her more than 1 a day.

Have fun with her. If you decide to get one let me know, I can give you the link of a place to get cages fairly cheap.

chevelle, i've actually read that raisins aren't that great for them due to the high sugar content. i've given her a plain cheerio for a treat and that is much better sugar wise.

going to petsmart tomorrow to get some timothy hay. her owners have one of those pressed hay cubes for her but it looks to be made of alfalfa, not the best hay for chins. will most likely end up getting her a fleece hammock too, since she had nothing soft in the cage to sleep on and doesn't seem to care for the hand towels i laid over her wire shelves. she slept in her empty dust bath container today, poor thing.

(gee, can you tell i've been googling my tookus off? lol!)

and oh, chevelle, if you're interested, this seems to be the chinchilla forum version of AC: http://chins-n-hedgies.com/forums/

I didn't know that, thanks! I don't give mine raisins that often, but I think I will cut them out all together. I do give them cherrios. The love them.

Thanks for the link too. I had not found that one.

Great job doing your research! The only other thing I might add is (per the advice given previously in this thread) that chinchillas should not be placed in the plastic exercise balls.. They are very susceptible to heat stroke, and these balls have very little ventilation.. and thus have earned the named "death balls" in the chinchilla community.

The chinchilla is beautiful.. great looking coat! Are they feeding her well?
