Any Cichlids that will live in a community tank?

cichlids

In my experience, I have had Severums, Kribs, Rams, and Convicts in a community tank. I would never in my life put angels in a community tank.
Kribs and rams are the typical good guys. Severums, if started small, can make it with many community fish ( not the little guys like neons or such), but be warned a Severum will get as big as a dinner plate with simple feeding. I have had convicts in with livebearers, and the only issue I had was when the convicts bred ( which is WAY too often imo).
Ample space, plenty of hiding places, and size will tell the tale. But, I would say the tank size is the key issue.

Laetacara curviceps are small, peaceful cichlids that do well in peaceful community tanks. They will change colors before your eyes too - very neat to see. They are commonly known as flag cichlids or curvicep cichlids. Here's a pic of one of mine:

My Laetacara curviceps just killed two danios, the little thugs! I have three and when I finished cycling my (very first) tank I happily got the danios thinking "dither fish". Ha. Ha ha. I think that the danio were just too small, but I don't know. The curviceps were going to be the basis for a community tank so now I am woebegone. I would love suggestions.
