Any clever trick to get iron?

Mayaca will grow fine without extra iron dosing.

You can always throw a handful of nails in your filter. Anything that rusts will leach iron chelate.

was just gonna say a few nails in the substrate will do it too

what plant needs all this iron? they make iron in dry ferts to.
certain plants will redden up with extra iron...but for the most part a trace amount found in the tap is enough, and certain fertilizers will dose small amounts too.

The quickest is the steel wool (more surface area). Once boiled it will start to oxydize immediately. If you use nails, boil them first for the same reason as the wool. If you are unsure as to whether or not the nail has a galvinized coating, use rusty nails.

With the small amount that would be needed, I would think that might be a little overkill with the iron.

Just my opinion though.

The two plants that made me ask were:

Ludwigia (to get the most out of it- and it's redness)
Mayaca (one source I read said if iron is low, this plant will yellow and show signs before any other)

I don't know that I NEED Iron- I was just finding out if there are easy solutions... don't have the steel wool yet- but that does sound good and I will try it.
