I've seen the boring pvc ideas and was wondering if anyone had a different idea for tank caves.

two or three pieces of driftwood can form a really intricate cave if you choose the right pieces...

I've also been thinking about using mesh to create a tunnel or cave, and planting copious amounts of a moss or fern in the mesh, so it becomes a lush green cave.

pvc is for plumbing.

aragocrete caves

Check out that aragocrete, I've made some very cool caves and rocks out of it, I just add rock salt instead of plastic to give it the look of lava rock, possibilities are endless. Any shape and size and color you want.

This response is a bit late... but coconuts have also been used quite successfully to make caves. Just halve em, scoop out the meaty stuff, make urself an opening and pop in. Oh... and boil it b4 you put in to get rid of any "impurities"
