Any eel like fish I could keep?

IMO, the Khuli Loaches would be the best. Even the peacock eel can eat you Apistos.
If you go the Peacock eel ,which is not a bad idea, I would get rid of the Apistos and get some bigger fishes.

Khulis are nice fish, and I'm also impartial to dojos, but I have to respectfully disagree on the eel. I had several housed with mollies, guppies, small tetras, etc., even guppy fry, with no losses due to the eel. I never even saw any of mine eat dead or dying fish, unlike most of their tank mates. Maybe I got lucky, but I have had my share of peacock eels, with no issues whatsoever. I love ropefish, but they will eat smaller fish, and they get relatively large. Good luck!
