Any experience with Seaclear acrylic aquariums?

I recently sold my 180 and it was a monster.. Bout tore me up.. I would love to see someone put it on a stand by themselves.

It's like Judo. Use the weight to your advantage. Move the stand away from the wall to give room to swing the tank. Stand the tank on end, then lower it onto the stand. Lift from the bottom and slide it into place. I like to have the customer stand in a strategic spot as insurance to keep the lowered end from sliding off, but it's not really necessary. Then just walk the tank end by end into final position. No problem! But without the added length to give counterbalance, like on a 4' 120, it won't work. I have an 8' 180 that's currently outdoors as a seasonal pond on pallets, but if/when I have to put it a stand it will be even easier. Unless it hits the ceiling!

I have a 75 tall and an odd sized 55-60 gallon tank that are both acrylic and I wish they were glass. I can't stand how easy they scratch, it makes cleaning them so much more difficult, not to mention having sand in them is quite risky. (Due to the scratching issue). I wanted to get glass for the odd sized tank, but the freight charges were more than the cost of the tank and I still would have to drive about 80-90 miles one way to pick it up from a shipping hub.

With everything you are are explaining, you dont see an advantage to something lighter and stronger?
People buy what they buy and I deal with it. Goes with the job.

I prefer glass myself. I do not like the look and feel of acrylic. $275.00 does seem like a lot of money for a used tank... although that one comes with all the bells and whistles and probably cost a lot originally. The oak stand is beautiful.
