So I sell a 125g tank stand canopy and two free rena smart filters on Craigslist. I was asking 400$ This guy called me and offered 375$ I said Id take 375$ with the rena filters or Id take 350$ for the tank and two old emperor 400s. He choose the two renas for 375$. A week later he called and said the the rena filter pads were to expensive and he wanted the 400s. I said I already sold one of the 400s but I had a Fluval 404 he could have for free. He said ok. I drove 15 miles to meet him half way to trade the fluval for the two renas. I thought we were good. A week later he calls me and said the fluval was leaking and he wanted two 400s. I told him again that the 400s were sold after he declined them in the first trade. I said the fluval was old and told him were he could buy the o ring dirt cheap (even though I tested the filter before I gave it to him). SO TODAY (almost two months later) he calls me and says he is going to sue me unless I buy him two new 400s. He said I misrepresented the tank. He said I told him the tank tank came with everything he needed. He said the two renas are rated for 55g each and the fluval is only rated for 100g and they cant handle the 125g even though I ran the two renas for a long time on the tank. The he said I ripped him off because the tank was scratched up. He came to my house and looked at it for an hour before he paid me and we loaded it up. How did I misrepresent the setup? He looked at it before he paid for it. I said ok bring me the tank and I will give you the 375$ back. He said no he loved that tank and he wanted his 400s. He kept say a ripped him off and the tank wasnt worth what he paid. He said I should buy the 400s for him because it would be cheaper then a court battle. Can you even sue over a 30$ filter?

I offered him the renas back but told him thats all I can do.....he said He would she me in court LOL

I'm not a lawyer, but it sounds like the guy is trying to scam you.

Most stuff on craigslist is sold as is.

Ignore him. The claim is a threat and nothing more.

No court system will acknowledge a claim like that.

Yea.....thats what I figured. Its a pride thing now. Im not going to give him 30$ now. I will turn it into a 4 year 15,000$ court battle first :headbang2:

He is a whack-o..ignore him.

ohh give me his address, I have a bridge I want to sell :D

No court anywhere in the world will even look at a case of some guy who has to give him 30 dollars because he supposedly ripped him off. It would be more expensive to go to a courthouse than to buya 30 dollar filter. Ignore him.
