hi,
I want halides but worried about heat issues with the aqualight pro as I have to use the legs.

what do you think of the new coralife aqualight advanced clip on?
they are 20,000k bulbs.

would this make colors pop like with 10,000k and actinics or t5`s?
or would it be too blue?

I have 75 gallon and thought maybe 2 of these, one at each end.

they can be seen at www.hellolights.com

Aqualight Pros are not bad for the price. It is a mid-range self-contained combo MH unit with Jebo/Odyssea being low-end and Tek and Giessmann (among others) on the higher end.

The line has recently added a lot more flexibility with the introduction of a 250W HQI version.

I don't think they have a 250W version of the clip-on unit yet. That model is designed for oddly sized tanks in place of a pendant. It lacks PC supplementation and the moonlight LEDs of the Aqualight Pros. The mechanism that affixes the unit to the tank takes quite a bit of room so you'll have trouble hanging anything else off the back of the tank if you're using two of them.

People also generally find an improvement in light when the swap out the standard Coralife bulbs for higher quality ones.

Heat will always be an issue with MH. Hanging from the ceiling gives you better control over heat as you cannot adjust the height of the Aqualight legs. If you are really worried and don't plan on keeping very light demanding corals/clams, the 150W version would be the better option.

Thought I would let you know that 20k bulbs emit a lot of UV light that corals and clams don't even need. 10-15k should be better.
