Any room temperature saltwater fish?

can't most atlantic species tolerate room temp? I have seen wild grammas living in water of 68 degrees off the coast of the keys in florida. pretty sure they were tobacco basslets specifically...

lol 79... i'd die... my room temp is 60 degrees.

At most I would say that they will seem as they are tolerating warmer temp then below 75, but in time enough, they will fail to live for its their way in nature that if a person cannot promise themselves that I can do something as maintaining such cooler tempts, its best not to try.

hmmmm... i'm going to try an experiement, as having snorkeled off the coast of the keys I have seen many atlantic species live in waters somewhat cooler than tropical temps, and have seen the minimum temp for some atlantic fish like grammas posted at 72 degrees, which is room temp. it's strictly for research purposes, i've done some experiments before like this....

You did this type of experiment before you say? With which species and for how long? Also you would find some to do well enough as for many others not fair as well. It might also be a good idea to keep the room itself which your to do this with lower temps then the tank for the tank will as well be with slightly higher temps then the room its in. I not always used a chiller before>

the main idea regardless of what temp the animals can handle all cant stand a great drop...so what u need to seek out is consistency not how it can survive. heaters and chillers provide a constant temp, which is really what they need. keeping a fish at 76 and the temp stays there great, but if it drops to 70 or up to 80 the fish will get shock...so the point of the heater is to keep it where it needs to be. keep in mind saltwater fish live in a gigantic stable mass of water, were freshwater fish live in small streams that even dry up. freshwater have evolved for variation and extreme situations, but saltwater is used to a constant water quality and is sensitive to change. most tanks dont require a chiller but should have a heater to make sure the temp doesnt drastically drop in the cool hours of the night.
also keep in mind its what is best for the longevity of the animals that need to be kept in mind and not how it can survive...surviving isnt whats best.
