Any suggestions for this 5g

I like the open style and this one is, in this picture anyway, great: the back looks like a winter sunset with clouds starting to clear away. Whether it looks this good in person or it's an accident of lighting is another matter. Black backgrounds I find boring, even depressing, particularly if light level is already low.

Only thing I would change would be to hide that hideous filter. A large plant, piece of wood, whatever, in the tank to hide the intake tube. And a stand to raise the potted plant on the left enough to hide the filter head (and maybe hang over the tank enough to hide that part?) would get the intrusion of technology out of the scene.

It has a very Japanese feel to me. Not the Amano style but the much older forms of nature paintings from that country. Or maybe I'm just not about to argue with anybody who reads "Good Night Mr. Holmes." :)

While adding the black background isn't particualrly spectacular to look at, it does offer a great way to hide cords and other man made objects in the background from taking away from your "masterpiece". While doing this it also will enhance the color of your fish tremendously. I have owned quite a few fish that look nearly ghost white at an aquarium shop and will turn deep beautiful colors upon being introduced into a "darker" tank.

Many use other colors of background sucessfully, but once you black you'll never go back.

loving the tank! great improvements :D

Definitely black background. Maybe some crypts to cover the filter intake. Anubias is always neat on driftwood, especially if you can get hold of some nana petite. I would also just use one type of rock. Mixed rock colors detract from the overall looks.

I will look for some anubias.

Oh, and those are my small snails (home hatched), the big ones are in the 10g :)

Thanks for all the input guys!
