Any suggestions? Setting up a betta sorority

I'm not going home for christmas or spring break. Summer would be the only time it would need to be moved. Is that still too much for a couple ghost shrimp?

so I can put Naomi ( My female betta) In with tetras? I just never thought about such peaceful fish in with a betta ... I also have some guppies ... could I put those in with her as a community tank instead if the tetras?

My dad gave me one lone emerald cory also should I get him buddies?

your lonely cory definitely wants buddies! emeralds are quite common so you shouldn't have any trouble finding him 3 buddies. due to the fact that emeralds are a normal sized cory, i wouldn't go with any more than 4 in a 10 gallon.

the female betta with the guppies should be fine. just how many guppies are we talking here though?

it's the male bettas that tend to try and pick fights with fish that have flashy colours or long fins. female bettas tend to be a little more like 'regular fish' in that regard but can still have an attitude, lol.

you could try a couple of ghost shrimp. i personally wouldn't in a tank that small, with cories already living on the bottom of the tank. and the betta may see them as snacks, or she may not. i personally wouldn't have shrimp in a tank unless it was all live plants with good cover/hiding spots for them. this is how i get away with having red cherry shrimp in with bosemani rainbows. without the plants, the shrimp would be lunch! another thing to consider is that shrimp, being inverts, require a high calcium diet, so make sure you read up on their requirements before getting any. your call with the ghost shrimp, but i personally wouldn't bother with them in a tank that size and with already having the cories.

I will definetly get him three buddies. and I currently have 6 guppies but they are both genders so i will have more. I also have two oto's in there that are completely relaxed with all the new cover ( the petstore told me improper care for them so i got them not knowing but they are doing great and i got them before the cory) this tank will be pretty interesting. there are lots of plants hopefully as time goes on I'll be taking out the plastic plants and adding real. with so many bottom feeders I do supplement the diet with algae wafers so everyone is well fed the cory takes the bottom and the oto's take the sides :)
