The kids on my son's and daughter's soccer teams pick these up by the hundreds, if not thousands, off of the soccer pitch before they play a game.

They're not a nuisance, just a curiosity. They're roughly 5.5mm in diameter and made out of a very hard and dense plastic. A handful of them has a bit more heft to than what one would expect with other plastics. Also, they come in quite a number of colors. Green and yellow seem to be the most prevalent ones.

I wouldn't ask, except they're quite uniform in shape (none of them are "out of round"), and they are as hard as nails.

Perhaps they're used in place of darts for a blowgun?

BB's? What type of airgun? These plastic BB's look to be about .22 calibre. Judging by the sheer number, I'd say there were a number of people shooting these things.

Curiouser and curiouser!

It could only be a couple of people depending on the airsoft gun they have. Some of the expensive electric models can fire between 600-900 rounds a minute.

Yes, they are. Several of my students shoot with them. They are going to put an eye out one day.

Airsoft...my gosh, did some Google'ing and they look just like the real thing. Incredible detail. You can't tell them from actual weaponry.

tai95, the second link you provided is incredible. Those guys built something that beats a small movie set...just for the purpose of Airsoft battle.

Yeah...police just love them...a good dozen people have been terminated by police who mistook their airsoft toys for the real thing.
