OK as far as i can tell this is FAUCHEA SP. no good info on it anywhere.anyone have this or delt with it? Gimme your opinion and thanx so much!
as far as I can tell it will grow anywhere without extremely strong current. My params are all good so I dont know wether to worry or not.
It appears to be Nitophyllum also known as Red Dityota. Do you have any herbivores in your tank? If it is most herbivores love it. Also helps with nutrient export.
that would be great news if its beneficial this is my stocklist
2 yt damsels
1 small clown
1 shrimp gobie
1 coral banded shrimp
1 mithrax
several blulegs and atreas
2 nassarius
3 gal fuge full of caluerpa
tons of pod and worms
Any suggestions for a herbivore for a small reef?? even if I have to remove it later due to growth?
I know you said about a small reef, but my yellow tang and Hippo tang eat the heck out of that stuff. I have only gotten it(hitchiker) on some pieces of coral and the tangs eat it up instantly. Gone within a matter of minutes.

Ugggghhh! The dreaded red turf algae scourge! It can take over your tank & choke everything out. Try to remove as much of it by hand as you can. The only thing that will eat it is Mexican turbo snails (I know, I've tried everything). I'm fighting the battle with it daily.
ugggghhh!! is right! the stuff is impossible to remove from rocks! scrubbing under water only trims it! and i cant run it under tap water or ill kill the whole rock! hmmm... it maybe snail and fish shopping day tomorrow good thing my frags are ready to trade!!Thanx for all the info guys and gals I appreciate it greatly!! OH and Merry Christmas to all!!!!
